The world is full of great cities. We would like to see them all, but in reality, it would take a lot of time and effort to even step foot onto them, let alone explore them completely. But, we could see some of the world’s cities and explore what they have to offer, whether they are a true representation of their country’s culture. They might not be able to represent the entirety of the country’s culture, but even an approximation is good enough.

The city to visit this time is Budapest. Budapest is the capital of Hungary, and is typically thought to be one of the most important cities to visit when going to Hungary. Here are some interesting things to see.

Buda Castle

This is the castle that you see from wherever if you are close enough to the city center. Buda Castle is actually a palace that lies atop castle hill, which you can spot from various locations in Budapest. It is an iconic palace that is now a Unesco Heritage location. There are plenty of things to see on Castle Hill and around Buda Castle, starting with the view. It is also home to museums and galleries, which is why you should visit it whenever you are in Budapest.

The Chain Bridge

This is the bridge that you see on Budapest postcards and when you search for the city itself. It was built in the 19th century, in 1849, or rather, it was opened to the public. The bridge crosses the Danube, a wonderfully huge river that is a sight to see. The bridge is around 1200 feet long, or 375 meters. It takes around 15 minutes to be passed on foot, or even more, if you stop to take pictures and bask in the view. Budapest looks lovely from this bridge, so take your time when you are crossing it.

Fisherman’s Bastion

This is a rather lovely looking neo-gothic structure lying atop Castle Hill. It is a terrace overlooking Budapest. Built from 1895 until 1902, it is a sight to be seen and it is an amazing overlook. However, the structure itself has a charm which matches that of the rest of the city.

Castle Hill is full of surprises and the Bastion is one of them.

Margaret Island

Every city needs a park. Margaret Island is an actual island on the Danube, and also a huge park. It is full of all things green, walkways, and is the place to go if you want to exercise. It is also great if you want to get away from all the fast-paced city life, and just enjoy the sunlight or the shade, depending on what you need. They even have waterfalls and a Japanese garden, so take your pick.
